Journey with Jesus

This Sunday night I will begin a new series of studies titled “Journey with Jesus – A Study of Mark.”  I will be presenting the message of the gospel using the book of Mark as a guide.  I am so excited about this new study and I encourage those of you in my area to make plans to be in attendance for each installment.  Mark’s gospel is my personal favorite because, while it is concise in nature (being the shortest of the four gospels) it also contains the most vivid descriptions of the actions and surroundings of the life of Christ.
I plan to use different methods of communication for this series, letting the text dictate the best method for each passage we confront.  Most of the messages will be in the form of expository sermons (the method I use in approximately 80% of my sermons), some will be narrative in form (kind of like retelling the story, but with commentary), and on other occasions I plan to leave the pulpit altogether and present the message in a manner you are more accustomed to in bible class.  Ultimately, the goal is to come away from the service each night with a better understanding of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
If you are not already attending (or regularly attending) on Sunday night then this is a great time for you to make the commitment.  This is also a wonderful opportunity for you to invite your friends and neighbors to come and hear the glorious message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I will also be uploading the podcast of each lesson here on my blog (also available on iTunes), as well as posting the PowerPoint on slideshare (which you can also access here).
Here is a sampling of messages we will explore over the next few weeks:
The Healer of Hurts
Secrets of the Kingdom
The Failings of Fear
Failure is not Fatal
The Trouble with Tradition
When the Forms are Empty
Broken Things, Too Broke to Mend
He is Risen!
I hope to see many of you Sunday night and for those of you unable to attend, listen the podcasts and let me know what you think.
Mitchell
